The temperature is warmer, but the wind is reminding us that it is still early spring. Now it is April and we can expect showers as the saying goes.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Azari Sawyers, who celebrated March 28; Amar Rodrigues, Heitor Loiola, March 29; Averie Murphy-Conroy, March 30; and to Debora Flores, who celebrates her day April 3.
Pansies are the flower of the week. Those little faces on the stem make everyone smile. They are also a great sign of spring and a perfect flower to dress up your porch or planters, plus if you keep up with the deadheading and pinch the plant back a little at a time they will last until the heat of the summer.
Because the pansies are out and colorful it is hard to hold people back from planting other plants that are blooming in the greenhouses. It is warm now, but there is always a chance that we will have a frosty night up to the middle of May, so it is hard to refrain from planting, but May is only a few weeks away.
The signs of spring continue: leaf blowers, cleaning up the debris from the storms and some late falling leaves, the sounds of hammers working hard on projects that could not be done all winter, but the best sound even if it is early in the morning is the birds. I love that sound even though there are days I want to yell out the window for them to be quiet. It is music after all. Also, the neighborhoods are waking up, like my street — the other three houses that are not occupied all winter have lights on. Soon all the stores will be starting to open for the season and Main street will be alive again.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
