Memorial Day has come and gone, and it was a wet one. I think there have been many rainy Memorial Days, but it did not stop the veterans and civilians from remembering those who helped get our freedom and keep it. Now it is on to June, and we will see what she has in store for us.

I had to be up early on Tuesday morning, and it was one of those nights that I woke up around 2:45 a.m. and started thinking and realized a half hour had gone by and then I started to worry about sleeping through the alarm. So, at 3:45 a.m. as I watched the minutes go by, I heard a chirp. It made me grin thinking that daylight was soon to come upon us. Ten minutes later there was another chirp and then there was a whole choir. So now, until I put the air conditioner in, I know my new alarm will be the sound of birds chirping, which is not a bad thing except it will be 4 a.m.
It was nice to see all the pictures of the March to the Sea of the school children. It has been a very long tradition. I remember marching, and the smell of lilacs and Lillies of the Valley bring me back to that childhood memory. Now, my fellow classmates are watching their grandchildren marching and it makes the tradition even more memorable.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
