Fall is slowly coming. We are cold in the morning, but the sun has been warm enough to keep us in cooler clothes. When the sun goes down, however, you want that sweater and one more blanket. It is also that time that it is cooler in the house than it is outside, but not time for the heat to come on.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to all those students who celebrated this week. Their gift this week is a long weekend. I did miss the pickup time for the list, but I will get it soon.

Ned Casey and his wife Tina travel to Italy every year, and this year was no different. They went to Puglia, the land of olive trees, and as Ned says the funky coastal towns on the Adriatic coast. There were olive groves everywhere, with trees up to 400 years old. They met some great people, ate some great food, and ended up at their favorite town on the Amalfi coast, Cetara, where they met old friends and ate very well.

October is the month that is heavy on fishermen and hunters. The derby is on and people are fishing hard. It is also bow hunting season and men are sitting in trees, so dinner is going to be late. Don’t forget to wear your orange and put orange on your pet if you are walking near the woods, and talk or sing loudly just to keep you and your pet safe.

Even though we have not been threatened with frost, it is time to bring in your tropicals and house plants that you may have put outside for the summer, and of course your Christmas cactus. I always put mine under the hedges and forget them until the middle of a cold night and have to go out to get it. But it always has some beautiful blooms.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
