Boxing Day
Twas the day after Christmas
and all through the cottage
All the wrappings deflowered
and I’m in my dotage
The tree lights are drooping
the house is a shambles
The family is hungry
but what are the chances
That I’ll get up and feed them
their Cheerios cheery
With orange juice and coffee
and old bones so weary
Cuz here I am settled all snug in my bed
with visions of holiday angst in my head
The party is over, twas all too insane
Six days until New Year’s
and we’ll do it again.
