Here are a couple of reminders.
Starting Sunday, Oct. 18, only one Chappy Ferry boat will be in service. You may still see two ferryboats down there but the one in the extra slip, the longer of the two, will be getting its vehicle deck recoated with nonskid paint and yellow guide lines. Once that new paint is dry, the shorter ferryboat will head to Vineyard Haven for out-of-the-water maintenance and Coast Guard inspection. It will return to service once all work is completed. Fortunately, the ferry boat that will be staying in Edgartown is the longer of the two vessels. Traffic will flow a little more slowly than usual but plan for a longer wait than normal.
A household hazardous materials collection will take place at the Edgartown transfer station near the MV Airport on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The Edgartown Fire Department will present an emergency preparedness talk with Chief Alex Schaeffer on Saturday, Oct. 24 starting at 9 a.m. at the Chappy Community Center. Learn how to prepare for future weather events.
