
Howard W. (Howie) Leonard, Jr., 74, of Palmyra, Pa. died with family by his side on Sunday, March 22.
Howie was born in Oak Bluffs to the late Howard W. Leonard, Sr. and Marjorie (Jackman) Leonard. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 50 years, Helen (Tam) Leonard.
He was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and went on to be a CPA and partner of an accounting firm in Keene, N.H. He enjoyed running, so much so that he ran approximately 60,000 miles until he was 71 years old. He also was a volunteer for several community organizations, especially in the New Hampshire area. Howie also was a semi-professional clown who enjoyed entertaining children. More than anything, he enjoyed coaching children and being there for his kids’ and grandkids’ activities.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, William and Kem, and husband David; four grandsons; two brothers; four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Bluffs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110, any organization dedicated to the research of ALS, or to any charity of choice.
