What’s yellow, on wheels, and found carting paying (and non-paying) passengers all over Oak Bluffs? The answer is a new, open-air way to tour the Island’s pastel-painted town or bar hop along Circuit avenue: Vineyard Pedicab.
Please Adopt Us
The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard has two beautiful cats who need homes: Star, a two-plus-year-old spayed female calico who has had all her shots; and Luna, a long-haired lovely black and white three-year-old female, who is also spayed and has had all her shots.
Dogs available for adoption are: Trent, the gentle giant great Dane; a neutered male Rhodesian ridgeback boxer cross, two years old; and Sophie, a five-year-old springer spaniel cross. All dogs are neutered and up to date on their shots.
The task of finding a solution to the gradual disappearance of the view from the Tashmoo overlook was firmly dropped back in the laps of the selectmen by the town’s conservation commission this week.
The commission told a small group of people concerned about the view that it would not attempt to force the owners of a stand of willow trees, which are progessively obscuring the view, to prune or remove them, because it had no power to do so.
A fuel truck making a delivery to Jim’s Package store in Oak Bluffs on Friday spilled an undetermined amount of gasoline near Nancy’s Restaurant along the harbor. The spill was not reported to town or state officials until three days later.
Pet Blessing
Father Nagle of the Good Shepherd Parish will be conducting a blessing of pets, with Plum TV filming on site, when Island animal lovers celebrate pets on Saturday, June 27, from noon to 2 p.m. at Sunset Park in Oak Bluffs.
There will be an open house the same day at the shelter located on Pennywise Path off the Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road where you can tour the facilities and enjoy refreshments. The open house hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon and 3 to 5 p.m. For details call, 508-627-8662.

The end of another school year is a bittersweet process. This is our final Sophomores Speak Out. We are reflecting on our history class, and what we will take with us on our journey as students and as people. Students start summer jobs, study for finals and get ready for the long wait of summer vacation. This time of year gets crazy with mixed emotions. First of all, after two years in high school, I can’t believe how fast the time goes by! I was told this as a freshman, but you don’t really believe it. Halfway through my high school career, I realize it is true.
A recent Vineyard Gazette article reported a legal challenge by the Cape Cod Commission to the certificate of environmental impact and public interest issued to Cape Wind by the unanimous vote of the Energy Facilities Siting Board (EFSB).
