Charlie Ortmans won the 45th Chilmark Road Race on Saturday with a time of 14:46. The first woman to break the tape was five-time winner Marian Johnson with a time of 17:49.

This Saturday, the 45th annual Chilmark Road Race will test the will of 1,600 runners in a hilly, five-kilometer course.

Defeating a crowd of nearly 1,200 runners and soaring thermometers, Michael Schroeder won the men’s division and Sarah Tully won the women’s division.

About 1,550 runners will be “running together apart” in the organization’s first-ever, pandemic-friendly virtual race.

Adding to a long list of summer cancellations due to the pandemic, road race organizers announced Wednesday that the race will not be held as usual this year.
