Sandra Barberio Webster has been appointed site manager at Hillside Village, a unit of Island Elderly Housing, executive director Ann Wallace announced.

Sandra, a longtime visitor to the Island, moved here permanently a few years ago to join her mother and son. Much of her career was spent in the food industry in a variety of managerial positions.

Digging Up Ancient History in Faraway Ecuador

I am a 2008 graduate of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School and right now I’m in my country studying archaeology. Considering that October is the month of archaeology in Massachusetts, I thought it was important to share the archaeological history of my beautiful country, Ecuador, with my family, friends and the community of the Vineyard.

Early Tuesday morning at the polls in West Tisbury a young woman carrying a box of muffins politely threaded her way through the line of voters that snaked out of the public safety building onto the sidewalk. The muffins were for the poll workers who had been there since before seven o’clock. As if reading the minds of all who stood outside on this mild autumn morning, most on their way to work, one voter turned to another and said, “Aren’t we lucky to live here?”

Vanessa and Alan Fink of Oak Bluffs announce the birth of a daughter, Aerowyn Neveah, born on Oct. 28, 2008, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Aerowyn weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces at birth. She was welcomed by big brothers Ethan, 6, and Ryan, 2.
