Fifteen artists for fifteen years. That’s what Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs is planning this Spring. No word yet on whether each artist will have to tackle a certain year. And how would you represent 1997, for example, anyway? Clinton started his second term, scientists cloned Dolly the sheep, Princess Diana died in a car crash trying to evade paparazzi, the possibilities are endless.

Yoga Teacher Training

Fly Yoga School led by Sherry Sidoti is offering a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Program featuring two 10-day intensive immersion periods. The first session takes place from May 19 to 29 and the second session is from Sept. 14 to 24.

Brownie Sundaes

The Dairy Queen is open but that’s not the only place to get your ice cream groove on.

This Saturday, April 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. the Edgartown Brownie troop is hosting an ice cream social to benefit the American Red Cross Tsunami relief efforts for Japan.

Doing good while feeling good, it’s a win-win for everyone. Except maybe parents dealing with the after shocks of a sugar high. But that’s a small price to pay for helping those in need.

Friday Night Fever

For many, the poses detailed in the Kama Sutra push the edges of mating rituals. The woodcock, on the other hand, looks at the 64 poses, all of them so mundane in their groundedness, and squawks. This bird gets busy in the air. The woodcock is not shy, either.

Hello Farmer

From Farmer to Table all in the same room, that’s the idea behind the farmer potluck on Thursday, April 7 at the Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury.

The event is hosted by the folks at Slow Food MV as a chance to get to know not only where your food comes from but by whom. Everyone is invited and dinner begins at 6 p.m. Bring a dish made with local food.

E verett Zurlinden is a pollinator. He doesn’t have wings or antennae or a pollen basket as his honeybees do, but by placing his beehives in backyards and farms, Mr. Zurlinden is a pollinator by proxy.

The Martha’s Vineyard Women’s Network will offer a $2,500 grant to a Vineyard-based business person who wishes to improve business skills, grow or improve an existing business, or start a new one.

The grant, offered for the second year by the four-year-old network, is open to all Vineyard business people, men and women, members and nonmembers. The winner will be announced at the year’s final Martha’s Vineyard Women’s Network program on May 17.

Curving for the Cure

During the month of April, Curves of Vineyard Haven will participate in the 13th annual Curves Food Drive to collect nonperishable food and cash donations to benefit the local food bank. Current members who make a $30 donation or an equivalent donation of food are eligible to receive a Curves reusable Food Drive grocery bag. From April 4 to 17, Curves will also waive the membership fee for new members who donate a bag of nonperishable food or make a minimum donation of $30.

Cultural Luncheon

The Martha’s Vineyard Center for Living will hold its fourth, in a series of five, cultural luncheon on Saturday, April 9. The theme will be the Jewish community and the influence of the Jewish people and culture on the Vineyard.

The event takes place from noon to 2 p.m. at The Grill on Main street in Edgartown. Ruth Cronig Stiller and her daughter, Gayle, are the featured speakers.
