Three Island residents walked away from the Tisbury selectmen’s meeting this past week with the opportunity to buy a home close to downtown Vineyard Haven for a dramatically reduced price.

Philippe Jordi and Derrill Bazzy are recipients of this year’s Kuehn Community Preservation Award, given out by the Community Preservation Act Coalition.
The Martha’s Vineyard Commission has approved a plan to expand the Sepiessa Affordable Housing development in West Tisbury.
The application from the Dukes County Regional Housing Authority and the Island Housing Trust will add three affordable housing units with six bedrooms to the housing development on Clam Point Road. Right now, the housing complex consists of four units with six bedrooms.
The development is located on a three-acre parcel of land with a Title V septic system.
There was little need for ceremonial golden shovels during Wednesday afternoon’s groundbreaking for phase two of the Island Housing Trust’s Lake street project. Construction had already begun on the third and final duplex town house of the affordable housing mini-community in Vineyard Haven. When complete, the duplexes will house six families.

It’s been two years since Island Housing Trust began the affordable housing project at 150 State Road. The Dukes County Housing Authority organized the lottery, held this past Tuesday night.
Island Housing Trust along with numerous other Island groups have completed construction on four affordable apartments at Carl Widdis Way in Aquinnah.
