The South Shore Community Action Council has announced that the Fuel Assistance Program will close for applications for this season on Tuesday, April 30. The last day for deliveries is also Tuesday, April 30. Anyone with a utility shutoff notice is urged to contact the office by April 30. Anyone who did not receive an application in the mail and feels that they may qualify is encouraged to apply.

South Shore Community Action Council Inc. is accepting applications for fuel assistance, a program that helps with fuel deliveries and utility shutoffs. Anyone who did not receive an application in the mail and feels they may qualify is encouraged to apply.

Applications for the South Shore Community Action Council’s fuel assistance program for the 2012 season must be received by April 30.

People receiving fuel assistance will get an additional $350 in federal funds this winter, according to the South Shore Community Action Council (SSAC), which administers the funds out of Plymouth.

So far this winter, recipients — many of them elderly — have been getting anywhere from $725 to $1,025 for the heating season. Eligibility is based on income and the size of the household.

2009

The fuel assistance program will close for applications today, the South Shore Community Action Council Inc. has advised. Today is also the last day for deliveries. Anyone who did not receive an application in the mail yet is encouraged to apply.

2008

The the fuel assistance program is open for applications from now through April 30, 2009, the South Shore Community Action Council Inc. has advised.

Applicants under 60 years of age may fill out applications by scheduling an appointment with Susan Von Steiger, Monday through Thursday at the Oak Bluffs Council on Aging at 508-693-4509. Alternatively, phone calls to the main office in Plymouth via a live operator are accepted between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 508-746-6707. Senior citizens may also call their local councils on aging to apply.
