Bret Blakeney with 25/7 Productions told Edgartown selectmen Monday that filming started last week at a private property in Oak Bluffs for the “docusoap” reality show.
He reiterated that the premise of the ABC Family show is family-friendly; it will feature young adults between 18 and 26 years of age.
The cast and crew of the reality show The Vineyard has arrived on the Island and begun work on their docu-soap, set to debut this sumer on the ABC Family network. Filming in the town of Tisbury for the ABC Family reality TV show The Vineyard will be largely limited to the Black Dog Tavern, and will require producers to work at a breakneck pace in order to meet a midsummer debut, show producers told selectmen on Tuesday. Producers for the show met with the board to discuss the impact of filming in the town; executive producer David Broome, 25/7 Productions vice president Yong Yam, production editor Brett Blakeney and film producer Karina Fadden were in attendance.
The Tisbury board of selectmen will meet with producers and staff for the ABC reality show The Vineyard at their next meeting on May 7. At Tuesday’s meeting, town administrator Jay Grande said he and a group including selectman Jeffrey Kristal and the town’s harbor master, police chief, department of public works chief and Steamship Authority representative spoke with producer David Broome via conference call about general plans for proposed filming.
The crowds that gather in Menemsha to watch the sunset will have the added company of a film crew come May.
At their meeting Tuesday, the Chilmark selectmen approved filming dates for the ABC Family reality TV show The Vineyard to film on the public beach. The filming will take place on May 11, 18, 23 and 30, and June 5 and 10 between 4 and 8 p.m. The beach will remain open to the public.
As spring arrives on the Vineyard, so will the reality TV crews.
According to a letter sent to Island town administrators, filming for the ABC Family reality TV show The Vineyard will take place May 5 through June 29.
Word came in February that the The Vineyard, announced as a docu-soap-reality show chronicling the lives of a group of 18 to 24-year olds, would be filming on the Island. The show is set to premiere on July 24 and production crews came to the Island and Boston in February for closed casting calls.
