A group of track and field athletes implored the regional high school committee Monday night to get going on long-overdue repairs to the failed school track.
As the regular season winds down for high school athletics, four teams will see post-season play.
Martha’s Vineyard male and female track athletes traveled to New Bedford and Somerville last Saturday for a Coaches Invitational meet.
Evan Kristal is a recipient of this year’s state track coaches association Frank Kelley Adversity Award, recognizing student athletes who have overcome diverse hardships, including physical and mental disabilities, to successfully compete at the high school level.
In track and field, the 800-metre run is a hybrid, a race that is definitely not a dash but can’t quite be considered an endurance event.
“It’s kind of just a relaxed sprint,” regional high school senior Jeremy Alley-Tarter said last week, in between warming up for a workout.
