2016

It is Wednesday, which means pizza day at The West Tisbury School. Head cook Jenny DeVivo put on her hat and Mötley Crüe style headband. This is not your typical hairnet or apron lunch lady.

After 32 years as the assistant town administrator in Tisbury, Aase Jones will retire at the end of January. Through the years she has witnessed growth and change in the Island’s main port town.

2015

The multi-talented Myles Thurlow appears utterly content with his Martha’s Vineyard life as a boat rigger, spar maker, flag pole maintenance man, teacher, amateur musician, Flying Horse fixer, guitar maker, house builder, father and husband.

The professional trumpet player, Edgartown resident and 30-year career U.S. Navy band member (now retired) is a ubiquitous presence at parades, weddings and every military funeral on the Vineyard.

The poet and novelist whose grace, elegance and remarkable longevity spanned more than a century, died at her home overlooking Stonewall Pond.

2014

It’s still early in the morning and Phoenix Russell has decided to spend the first part of the day combing one of her favorite beaches to collect conch and clam shells to make jewelry. She also spends most fall mornings and evenings sitting in a deer stand.
