Halloween Party
Spook alert! The annual Halloween Party at the Ag Hall in West Tisbury will be on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. with games, prizes, snacks and the scary hayride. It’s all brought to you by West Tisbury Parks and Recreation. For details, call 508-696-0147.
Vineyard Haven Ghosties
Once again Vineyard Haven businesses are getting into the ghoulish spirit this Halloween.
Beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31, Main street will be host to those things that go bump in the night. So come all you vampires and Voldemorts, you witches and warlocks, you ghosts and goblins. The fun starts off with a parade beginning at the Mansion House and then by foot, wing, cape, carpet or claw it heads down to the Waterside Market.
Once children begin connecting with the natural world, it can be hard to stop them. Perhaps that is why the lovely new book by the young artists of Featherstone Center for the Arts, called Animals A-Z, has 49 paintings despite the potentially limiting 26 letters of the alphabet.
Winter Farmers’ Market
Noses, for the moment, may be safe from Jack Frost, but still the air is getting chilly. So what’s a farmers’ market to do to keep the veggies safe. Head indoors.

The market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Market dates are Oct. 23, Nov. 6 and 20 and Dec. 4 and 18.

Art in a Barn
