Offshore wind energy projects continue to progress in the waters south of the Vineyard, with two new wind farms approved and construction starting on a third.  

The Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society’s 54th season commences on July 6, however this summer a familiar and beloved face will be missing from the crowd.

Smaller in scope than other local groups, and relying largely on private donations rather than public funding, Habitat for Humanity focuses on building single-family homes for private ownership.

A family of artists will display their work at the Chilmark Library from July 19 to August 8. 

Fine Lines: A Family of Artists features eight artists from three generations of the extended Scott and Cook family.

Liz McGhee, whose abstract work will be on display, said she was surrounded by art growing up. She remembered how her mom, Anne McGhee, would draw her portrait while they watched television together.

“At any opportunity growing up my mother would always give me art supplies,” Ms. McGhee said. “I was just surrounded by my mom’s dedication to the craft.”

Through Phyllis Vechiia's Women in History program, she uses song and theatrical presentations to introduce Vineyard students each year to important women in history.

Celebrity Autobiography won the 2009 Drama Desk Award for unique theatrical experience, and will be presented on July 6 at the Performing Arts Center to raise money for the Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse.

Without a moon in the sky, nights do get dark. You can see the Milky Way, that ribbon of billions of stars rising in the east.  The waving ribbon starts above the horizon in the northeastern sky, rises up high into the sky and extends down to the southeast.

Longtime Vineyard seasonal resident and frontman of the Boston-based band Dispatch, Chadwick Stokes will lead a rock opera next week at Union Chapel and the Old Whaling Church.
