I am looking forward with great interest to attending the wind energy forum sponsored by POINT on August 8. Specifically, I welcome the opportunity to ask the representative of Governor Patrick to speak to the as yet unresponded to comments of the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife Service on his then draft Ocean Plan.

The divas have done it again, divining a star-studded lineup — with master of wine Sandy Block, Barbecue University’s Steven Raichlen, and Top Chef contestant Ariane Duarte — for the fourth annual Divas Uncorked Wine and Food Festival on Martha’s Vineyard.

Festival events begin on Thursday, August 12 and continue through Sunday, August 15.

This year, the event will again provide fund-raising support for the Island Grown Initiative..

Wind Power and Scenery: Have a Say on Wednesday

There will be a work session on the visual impact of wind turbines on scenic resources on Wednesday, August 11, in conjunction with the preparation of a Wind Energy Plan for Dukes County.

Medals Will Honor Three Outstanding Vineyarders

David McCullough, Arthur R. Railton and Tobias Jonathan Vanderhoop will be awarded the Martha’s Vineyard Medal in a ceremony at the annual meeting of the Martha’s Vineyard Museum on Monday, August 9, at 5 p.m. at the Federated Church on South Summer street in Edgartown.

The medal is awarded annually to leaders in the community in recognition of their outstanding commitment to preserving the history, arts and culture of Martha’s Vineyard.

The Edgartown Yacht Club Twelve Metre Regatta for classic vintage, classic traditional, modern and grand prix 12 metre class yachts will be held in the waters off Edgartown on Saturday and Sunday, August 7 and 8. Scouts’ Camp Wampanoag Is Open to All Island Girls

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts’ Camp Wampanoag in Chilmark want you to spend your summer vacation having fun at Girl Scout camp.

Camp Wampanoag will have two summer camp sessions: August 23 to 27, and August 30 to Sept. 3 for girls in grades one to six. The programs will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day. Come for a day or all ten! Each day offers new and exciting programs tailored to each age level. Girls can meet new friends and connect with old friends.
