Truth be told — I picked the last of the carrots. I had one little section left but they have started growing again. They are covered with little hairy roots. Hairy is not a word one ever wants to hear in reference to food. I am going to leave a few to grow some seeds. Because carrots are biennial, they will produce seed the second year following a bloom that exactly resembles Queen Anne’s Lace. If times get really tough you can eat the root of the aforementioned.
Edgartown Race Weekend has been extended to a three-day event with the announcement that the Edgartown Yacht Club plans to add another day to its Big Boat Buoy Races.

“My forsythia have been trying to bloom all winter, especially on the nice days,” he said on a cool March morning at Jardin Mahoney in Edgartown “I always refer to the forsythia.
While nitrogen-rich water can be a boon to plants, it has led to declining water quality and pond health and the disappearance of eelgrass beds. One way to combat the problem, the Lagoon Pond Association says, is to save and reuse nutrient-rich rainwater, thereby preventing it from draining into our ponds.

Take a drive up-Island, for example, where the weathered stone walls in Chilmark still serve as property boundaries and line the roads. Dry stone walls have existed for centuries, used in all corners of the world and constructed according to the same basic blueprint: fit stones of differing sizes together in a three-dimensional jigsaw.
