Reasons to Say Yes

I want to express why Ben and I have decided to support the beer and wine proposal coming up for vote on the ballot April 12.
We are writing in support of Question 2 on West Tisbury’s April 12 town ballot. Question 2 authorizes the selectmen to grant beer and wine licenses to restaurants which seat 50 or morepatrons. It also authorizes the selectmen to grant one-day beer and wine licenses to organizers of fundraisers held at venues in West Tisbury.
p> The voters of West Tisbury will get to decide whether or not to approve the Mill Pond committee’s article number 13 on the warrant for the annual town meeting on Tuesday, April 10. The committee would like to pursue grant funding for a dredging project at the Mill Pond, owned by the town.
MVC Workshop
The Martha’s Vineyard Commission will cosponsor a stormwater management workshop by the Massachusetts department of environmental protection at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional Transit Authority Building at the airport business park in Edgartown, Thursday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided, with sign-in and coffee at 8:45 a.m. The workshop is free and open to the public. Space is limited and preregistration required.
Dean’s List
Trey Rasmussen of Vineyard Haven has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester at Salve Regina University. Trey is a sophomore majoring in business administration.
Salve Regina, a Catholic, co-educational university founded by the Sisters of Mercy, enrolls more than 2,500 undergraduate and graduate students.
Sponsor Hildee Lewis
Hildee Lewis of Vineyard Haven will compete on behalf of the charity Grassroots Soccer in the Boston Marathon on April 15. The organization is seeking donations to sponsor Ms. Lewis and other runners as part of its campaign to educate, test and support those infected and at risk for AIDS.

Community Baptist Church of Gay Head invites one and all to attend services during the holy week of Easter. Good Friday services will be conducted this evening at 7 p.m. with worship by the Rev. Ellen Tatreau. Easter Morning Sunrise service will be held at 6 a.m. on Sunday with the Reverend Tatreau.

People are beginning the task of cleaning up the yard after the long winter, raking the lawn and flower beds. Some have already begun planting peas and other hardy vegetables in their garden. Businesses are reopening for the season, Middletown Nursery and 7a Foods to name just two.
