The Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society has unveiled the winning poster for the fair this summer honoring Emma Hall, a longtime fair volunteer who died this winter in a motor vehicle accident.

The Agricultural Society is switching things up this summer with rides provided by a new amusement company. And get your Gazette pressman hats at the 4th of July parade!

After 50 years with Cushing Amusements, the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society signed a five-year contract with Fiesta Shows, a New Hampshire-based company, to provide the amusements.

This year’s Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society fair poster features a rooster with plumage made of fishing lures, created by Abe Pieciak.

The 162nd Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Fair came to a close on Sunday, bringing an end to four days of carnival favorites, Island eats and face time with furry barnyard friends.

On Thursday, when the 162nd Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Fair opened at 10 a.m., people streamed through the gates, admiring livestock, pets and poultry of all sizes, enjoying rides, and sipping pickle lemonade.

The Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society has chosen a painting by Traeger di Pietro as the winning entry for this year's fair poster contest. The 162nd annual agricultural fair takes place August 15 to 18.
