Joyce

Tonight is an evening for turning lemons into lemonade.

Islander Joyce Garde, a 14-year cancer survivor, was recently diagnosed with another cancer. Rather than fight the battle alone, she is celebrating with friends and is doing it in style — at a benefit held tonight in her honor at Lola’s restaurant in Oak Bluffs. All are invited to join her from 7 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. for free finger food, live deejay music, dancing, and a silent auction. The suggested donation is $20 at the door.

Lola’s Adds Lunch

After 15 years in business on Beach Road in Oak Bluffs, Lola’s restaurant has decided to add lunch. The meal will be served on the patio courtyard or in the air-conditioned dining room from noon until 3 p.m.

Lola’s also has starting delivering a choice of five sandwiches with chips and a soda to the Inkwell or first and second bridge along State Beach by an eco-friendly bicycle delivery boy.

More information is available by calling 508-693-5007.

Kathy and Paul Domitrivich of Lola’s Southern Seafood are hosting a summer solstice fundraiser for Penelope Dickens on Sunday, June 22. Penelope is in her third year of cancer treatments and needs help meeting her basic living costs.
