The Martha’s Vineyard Boys and Girls Club completed a long-planned purchase late last week of 21 acres in Edgartown, marking a major step toward building a new facility for the club.

2019

Abutters zeroed in on an incipient plan by the Boys and Girls Club of Martha’s Vineyard to develop a new campus in Edgartown Tuesday night.

The historic club, which serves more than 1,800 Island children each year, has signed an agreement to buy 21 acres of land for an eventual new campus in Edgartown, club leaders confirmed.

As the census continues to grow, the Boys and Girls Club facility off Robinson Road in Edgartown is no longer adequate to serve the needs.

Golfers from on and off the Island will hit the links this weekend for the 23rd annual Children’s Benefit Golf Tournament, hosted by the Farm Neck Golf Club.
