One hundred and thirty years ago the first Neighborhood Convention meeting took place, organized by Rev. Willard Packard, who began the tradition in 1894.

2014

The January meeting of Neighborhood Convention will be held at the Federated Church, 45 South Summer street, Edgartown, on Tuesday, Jan. 6, beginning at 11 a.m.

The Neighborhood Convention celebrates its 120th anniversary this month, and some time was reserved at the November meeting for a bit of reminiscing. The convention was born out of a time of hostility among the Protestant denominations of the Vineyard.

The luncheon program at the June 3 neighborhood convention gathering includes the topic Behind the Scenes at The Yard: Choreographers Share Their Vision.

2013

Rev. Bill Clark will lead the worship service and Susan Klein will present East of the Vineyard during this month's Neighborhood Convention.

When the Neighborhood Convention meets this month the Minnesingers will present a holiday program preview. The convention will meet at 11 a.m. on Dec. 3 at Trinity United Methodist Church at the Camp Ground in Oak Bluffs.
