The Oak Bluffs select board named town accountant Deborah Potter as their new town administrator Tuesday, after reviewing candidates both internal and external during an extended two-day interview process this week.
A ban on the sale of single-use plastic drink bottles in Oak Bluffs has not been enforced in the almost two years that it has been in effect, causing concern among the bylaw’s backers and highlighting the uphill battle to reduce pollution across the Island.

Kris Chvatal, Bill Cleary, Emma Green-Beach and K. Mark Leonard are running for the two three-year terms. The seats have been held by Ms. Green-Beach, the current board chair, and Jason Balboni, who decided to not run for reelection.
The select board decided to not put articles to limit large parties, make the town clerk appointed and put funding towards Sailing Camp Park on the annual town meeting warrant.
