A ban on the sale of single-use plastic drink bottles in Oak Bluffs has not been enforced in the almost two years that it has been in effect, causing concern among the bylaw’s backers and highlighting the uphill battle to reduce pollution across the Island. 

Kris Chvatal, Bill Cleary, Emma Green-Beach, and K. Mark Leonard were all queried about issues on the warrant for annual town meeting on Tuesday. 

Kris Chvatal, Bill Cleary, Emma Green-Beach and K. Mark Leonard are running for the two three-year terms. The seats have been held by Ms. Green-Beach, the current board chair, and Jason Balboni, who decided to not run for reelection.

The select board decided to not put articles to limit large parties, make the town clerk appointed and put funding towards Sailing Camp Park on the annual town meeting warrant.

Traci Smith went before the Oak Bluffs select board last week, requesting licenses for her proposed Martha’s Vineyard Black Book Festival inside and on the lawn of the Island Inn.

The select board voted Tuesday to allow the harbor and shellfish departments to move forward with a plan to install a new dock near Our Market, replacing a pair of slips that sit there now.
