The Trustees of Reservations has purchased the Wacks property on Chappaquiddick, giving the land conservation nonprofit ownership of the entirety of the Wasque Reservation.

The Martha’s Vineyard Surfcasters Association has run a courtesy patrol for more than 30 years on the island’s beaches, lending a hand to beachgoers, fishermen and the Trustees staff.

The Trustees of Reservations chose Katie Theoharides as the nonprofit's new president and CEO. She replaces John Judge, who stepped down in October after eight months on the job.

The announcement came after a long road of regulatory challenges for the statewide land conservancy.

After releasing an initial draft of the plan last June, the Trustees spent the year gathering public feedback on topics such as oversand vehicle access, shorebird protections and pet regulations.

The Edgartown conservation commission conditionally approved The Trustees of Reservations application to sell OSV permits on Trustees property from Wasque to the Jetties.
