Jo Douglas spends much of her summer behind the wheel of her pickup truck as part of her Fork to Pork operation. In the off-season, though, she can be seen behind a much different wheel: the Zamboni at the Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena.


The Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena was transformed last Friday, led by the Minneapolis-based dance troupe Brownbody with a performance called Tracing Sacred Steps.


Due to rising cases of Covid-19 connected to indoor ice hockey, Governor Baker has ordered all indoor ice arenas and skating facilities to cease operations for the next two weeks.


Bragging rights took a back seat at the third annual police versus fire hockey game which was a benefit this year for the Island Autism Group and the family of Erica Ponte. (P.S. Team Blue won).


The Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena played host to the East Coast Classic, a hockey tournament that pits eight summer teams from the Northeast against one another in a battle for the Vineyard Cup.

Last year over 300 fans packed the ice arena for the first ever Guns and Hoses event, which pitted local police against local firefighters in an icy battle for hockey bragging rights.
