After a wave of complaints about the removal of benches from two bus shelters adjacent to the SSA terminal in Vineyard Haven earlier this month, the Tisbury select board agreed Tuesday to replace the benches.

The Tisbury select board this week agreed to remove the benches from two bus stop shelters across from the Steamship Authority terminal in Vineyard Haven.

Joseph LaCivita, currently the general manager of Watervliet, N.Y., will start on March 3. The select board unanimously picked Mr. LaCivita to succeed longtime administrator John Grande, who left in December.

The Tisbury building commissioner is looking for a 24 per cent increase in his department’s budget, with much of the proposed hike going to payroll including a new position for short-term rental inspections.

The Tisbury select board voted unanimously Wednesday to offer the job of town administrator to Joseph J. LaCivita, currently the general manager for Watervliet, N.Y.

The select board will interview Sonia Alves-Viveiros and Joseph J. LaCivita at noon on Wednesday for the town’s top post, with current town administrator John (Jay) Grande set to step down at the end of the year.
