The Tisbury building commissioner is looking for a 24 per cent increase in his department’s budget, with much of the proposed hike going to payroll including a new position for short-term rental inspections.
The Tisbury select board voted unanimously Wednesday to offer the job of town administrator to Joseph J. LaCivita, currently the general manager for Watervliet, N.Y.
The select board will interview Sonia Alves-Viveiros and Joseph J. LaCivita at noon on Wednesday for the town’s top post, with current town administrator John (Jay) Grande set to step down at the end of the year.
Tisbury’s outgoing town administrator John (Jay) Grande is facing an ethics complaint filed by a town employee who claims he was improperly working with an engineering firm that has several projects in the local permitting process.
Greg Leland has been on paid administrative leave since July. The chief, who was promoted to the top position in 2020, was being investigated by the town’s legal counsel for reasons that have not been made public.
At the meeting Dec. 17, voters will be asked to approve more than $8 million for library improvements.
