Chilmark sends congratulations to the Kohlberg family on the purchase of our wonderful Island newspaper and to the Preservation Trust who now have one of the historic Vineyard houses to take care of as only they can. I know the Kohlbergs have a long Chilmark history, so let’s hope they are readers of this column. We will keep you posted!

A pleasure and honor to meet Jerome and Nancy Kohlberg and members of the Kohlberg Foundation at the Vineyard Gazette reception on Monday morning. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here on Chappy. Not really, but I was afraid if I didn’t say it now I might not ever get the chance — very little snow in the forecast. And snow is the one addition to the landscape that adds a seasonal quality to our home. Otherwise, November, December, January, February, March and April look a lot like Christmas too.

Felype Arrives
Alcione da Silva and Antonio da Silva of Vineyard Haven announce the birth of a son, Felype Marcos da Silva, born on Nov. 29, 2010, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Felype weighed six pounds, 12 ounces at birth.
Welcome Gabriella
Jennifer and Roger Schilling Sr. of Oak Bluffs announce the birth of a daughter, Gabriella Joy Schilling, born on Nov. 25, 2010, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Gabriella weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces at birth. She is also welcomed by her big brother, Roger Jr.
Jupiter, the brightest celestial object in the night sky this week, is high in the southern sky and can be viewed almost all night. The planet is in the zodiacal constellation Pisces.
