Evan Schwab of Chilmark, and Nicholas Wilbur of Vineyard Haven were recently graduated from the University of Rhode Island. Evan received a BSBA degree in supply chain management. Nicholas received a degree in aquaculture and fishery technology.
Evan was also named to the dean’s list for the spring 2012 semester. He joins Erin Marie Gosson of Edgartown in that achievement.
On June 29 from 2 to 5 p.m., the Edgartown library trustees and staff will host an open house to thank the community for approving plans to build a new library facility. On hand will be a special guest of honor: the library’s new director, Jill Hughes, who begins her full-time position on June 25. There will be food, live music and games for kids.

Samuel Donegan of Vineyard Haven has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Bryant University. Samuel just completed his junior year; he is studying management.
Brian Hurley of Edgartown and Clara Maynard of Chilmark, both students at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, have been awarded the 2012 Saint Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement with a Social Conscience.
Jack Roberts and Martin Aranzabe, two rising senior players for the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School soccer team have been named to the Mass. Premier Soccer (MPS) under-18 Premier Crusaders team.
Evan Saul Kendall, son of Stuart Kendall and BeeBee Horowitz of Vineyard Haven, graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa. on May 20 with a B.S. in environmental science. Evan is a graduate of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School.
Junior Maggie Riseborough traveled to the New England Track and Field Championship Meet on June 9 in Saco, Me., throwing a 35’4.75” in the shot put to place 15th of 36. Riseborough, whose personal best was a 37’1” throw in 2011, was ranked 17th in New England going into the meet. The winning throw was 44’7”, by Cherraine Davis of Southington, Conn.
