State Marijuana Licenses Exclude Vineyard and Nantucket

The state Department of Public Health Friday released the list of the first applicants approved for a registered medical marijuana dispensary — with none in Dukes County, at least yet.

The state has given 20 applicants provisional approval for dispensary licenses. Two are in Barnstable County, one in Mashpee and one in Dennis, two in Plymouth County, one in Plymouth and one in Brockton.

The Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank reported revenues of $501,960 for the business week ending on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014. The land bank receives its funds from a two per cent fee charged on many Vineyard real estate transactions.

Mill Pond Debate, Decision

At West Tisbury’s annual town meeting on Tuesday, April 8, at the West Tisbury School gym, there will be a warrant article asking the town to vote to use $30,000 of Community Preservation Act funds for design and permitting costs to dredge the Mill Pond.

Town Government Needs Diversity

More citizens need to run for government committee seats or town management positions. This will ensure a greater diversity of ideas, proposed solutions, and more constructive discussions prior to the adoption of regulations and expenditures of each town.
