Glenn Tunstull treats an art exhibition like a fashion show.

Whereas fabrics and patterns decorate a model, swatches and brush strokes dress his canvas.

“Each painting represents where I am today,” Mr. Tunstull said.

Valentine Estabrook brings her solo show to the Dockside Inn on Saturday, July 20, from 4 to 7 p.m.. Her works include plein-air pastel and oil paintings of the Island landscape.

Dinosaurs and sharks mingled nicely with live ducks and a baby goat at Saturday’s Sense of Wonder creations art show in Vineyard Haven. The dinosaur and shark were a couple of papier mache creations completed by young campers who attend the after-school program at Sense of Wonder. The ducks seemed right at home in a tub of water in the backyard. Music, face painting and a bean bag toss shared the space.

Memorial Day Weekend brings more than the signal of summer. It is also the weekend of the annual Friends of Family Planning Art Show Benefit which helps support the Family Planning Clinic of Martha’s Vineyard.

Island artists donate from 40 to 100 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of their work to benefit the cause. Appetizers and desserts are donated by Island restaurants, caterers and chefs.

The opening gala benefit is from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at the Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury. Music will be provided by Jeremy Berlin.

The artists are Jeanne Staples and Liz Taft (from the Vineyard), Sarah Son-Theroux, Deena Gu-Laties and Debra Hope Colligan from Cape Cod, and Saskia Eubanks of Boston.
