The Martha’s Vineyard Museum was alive with activity Saturday afternoon as it hosted its first Earth Day Conservation Festival, a four-hour celebration of the Island’s natural environment.

Invest In Our Planet is the official theme for the 53rd annual celebration of Earth Day on April 22, and the Island’s conservation agencies, nonprofits and libraries are creating a diverse array of activities for Islanders to do just that.

Vineyard Conservation Society is hosting its 31st annual Earth Day Beach Clean-Up on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Bands of hardy volunteers of all ages hit the beaches around the Island Saturday for the 30th annual Earth Day beach day cleanup. It marked the 30th year for the event, sponsored by the Vineyard Conservation Society.
