The Vineyard boys baseball team broke little sweat shutting out Sturgis Charter School West 6-0 at the Shark’s baseball diamond on Thursday.

The girls tennis team is the lone Vineyard contender in post-season play, as the players continue their march today to a third consecutive state championship. Boys tennis and boys baseball both lost in their playoff games on Thursday in hard fought, close games.

Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Baseball players were named to summer baseball league all-star teams.

Bats are cracking, sails are full of wind and tennis racquets and lacrosse sticks are in evidence as the spring sports season gets under way at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School.

Girls’ tennis opens Tuesday at 3 p.m. when the team takes on Barnstable. Also on Tuesday at 3 p.m., boys’ lacrosse hosts Bishop Stang.
