An Oak Bluffs man is facing charges following an alleged vehicle vandalism incident at the Tisbury Park and Ride, police said in a press release Saturday.

A slew of minor incidents related to drunken driving, stolen property, vandalism and rough seas occupied Island police over the weekend. Edgartown police alone responded to 130 calls.

Amateur fireworks displays were crackling from Edgartown to Aquinnah, keeping Island police busy over the Fourth of July. Police also reported a handful of drunken driving arrests.

William Bishop of the Edgartown police department was formally promoted to sergeant in an outdoor ceremony Wednesday at police headquarters.

Island police responded to car accidents and minor incidents over the weekend. As more people arrive, call volume is picking up, police said.

With the arrival of summer, Island police say they are receiving more calls, including for noise complaints.
