The state highway department will pause work in Tisbury for the summer and resume after Labor Day, town administrator Jay Grande said.

According to a statement from the town, the road will be down to one lane for part of the way from the drawbridge to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.


Recent traffic backups on Beach Road in Vineyard Haven are due to come to an end Friday as paving and other construction work wraps up, Tisbury town officials said this week.

Commercial real estate redevelopment projects are beginning to proliferate along Beach Road in Vineyard Haven, with properties changing hands at a steady clip in the densely built, flood-prone harborfront corridor running from the head of Main street to the drawbridge.

Well ahead of schedule, highway work on Beach Road in Vineyard Haven is expected to finish in the fall of 2022.


Beach Road in Tisbury will be down to one lane from Monday through Thursday as the state Department of Transportation conducts milling and paving operations on the road.

A massive project to redevelop the Tisbury Marine Terminal on Beach Road flew through its public hearing process at the Martha’s Vineyard Commission Thursday, seeing no opposition.
