The select board voted Tuesday to allow the harbor and shellfish departments to move forward with a plan to install a new dock near Our Market, replacing a pair of slips that sit there now.
The change is meant to accommodate the harbor’s increasing autumn traffic, said harbor master Emily deBettencourt.
A long-standing project to replace the Oak Bluffs harbor jetty was a topic of contention last week between residents and a town committee tasked with considering capital projects.
The Oak Bluffs select board voted Tuesday to eliminate long-term overnight mooring and slip use in the marina during the off-season.
Earlier this year Emily deBettencourt was named Oak Bluffs harbormaster, taking over for Todd Alexender who retired. Ms. deBettencourt started working on the harbor in high school.
The Oak Bluffs harbor is upping its mooring fee to $50 per day for the summer season.
