Competitors are ready to set sail in the 41st Moffett Cup Race Saturday morning, the annual end of season competition sponsored by the Holmes Hole Sailing Association.

The 13th annual Vineyard Cup regatta is in the books with light winds but a heavy warm front of fun sweeping over three days of racing on Nantucket and Vineyard Sounds.

New races and new venues highlight the upcoming summer of competitive sailing on Martha’s Vineyard.


A field of eight 12-metre sailboats wrapped up three days of racing Sunday with an awards ceremony at the Edgartown Yacht Club.

Visitors could be forgiven next weekend if they thought they were in 1970s Newport, not Edgartown in 2017.


At the Vineyard Cup awards ceremony Sunday, which followed three days of spirited racing in Vineyard waters, it was Nantucketer Wendy Schmidt who took the top prize in the classic division.
