The 11th annual Vineyard Cup is set to sail this weekend, with three days of racing in Martha's Vineyard waters. The annual Seafood Buffet and Auction precedes the sailing competition Thursday evening.
The winds are rising and the temperatures are dropping, telling Holmes Hole sailors that they don't have much more time on the water. One by one skippers are calling in to say that they have put up sails and are done for the season.
Sails dotted the horizon from Cape Pogue to West Chop from Thursday to Sunday, but fickle winds and currents were the main theme this year in the annual Edgartown Yacht Club Regatta and Vineyard Cup races.
