The Vineyard Gazette is seeking a full-time or part-time Art Director to play a crucial role in the award-winning historic weekly newspaper. The black and white broadsheet is one of the few full size newspapers in the country. The Gazette prints each week in the Edgartown office on Martha’s Vineyard. The art director will oversee the design and layout of the weekly newspaper and digital news website. The visual look of the paper should adhere to our historic roots but also incorporate modern techniques. The art director will work hand in hand with editors to create the aesthetics face of the paper.
Responsibilities: Lay out paper weekly, post stories and photos on website daily, assign photographers, edit photos, choose art, archive photos and news stories

The Vineyard Gazette Media Group is now accepting applications for full- time, paid summer internships. Interns must have use of a car and a valid driver’s license, and be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends. Positions begin in late-May and run through the end of August.
The application deadline is February 28, 2025.
Newsroom interns cover news and features including weekend arts and cultural events and assist with a wide variety of tasks, such as helping with the press on Thursday evenings when the Vineyard Gazette is printed. Strong writing skills are essential, along with an ability to work on deadline while managing multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.

Intern will be exposed to the business side of publishing by assisting with a range of activities, including marketing, promotion, event planning, customer service and distribution. The ideal candidate will be a jack-of-all-trades – confident, detail oriented and able to represent the Vineyard Gazette Media Group in interactions with the public. Excellent writing and organizational skills are required. We are looking for a self-starter who is hardworking and eager to learn.
