Wendy Weldon Retrospective

A retrospective of paintings by Wendy Weldon will be on exhibit from Feb. 28 through April 4 at the Chilmark Public Library. There will be new work as well as older paintings, all of which have never been exhibited before on the Vineyard. Paintings from her Shrine series, her Bed and Lamp series and her Personal Memoirs series will be included in the show.

An artist’s reception will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 at the library. All are welcome.

To celebrate the reopening of her Main street, Vineyard Haven gallery, Louisa Gould is offering free art tomorrow.

Louisa Gould Gallery has been under renovated since a pipe burst of Jan. 2, but it will reopen tomorrow, Saturday, March 7, from noon to 5 p.m. And as a thank you to customers, Ms. Gould is offering a deal that if you purchase one of her photographs at full price you may take home a second piece of original art (of the same or lower price) for free. In addition, Louisa Gould paintings will be offered at a 20 per cent reduction.

Michael Zide Featured

Photographer Michael Zide will be featured by the Moab Paper Company at an upcoming convention in Las Vegas this weekend. Select images from his Vineyard landscapes and fine art portfolios will be on display. A former photographer for the Vineyard Gazette who now teaches at the Hallmark Photography Institute in Turners Falls, Mr. Zide is one of two photographers who was recently interviewed by Moab and will be the subject of an upcoming online profile and photo gallery.

Granary Sale

The Granary Gallery at the Red Barn in West Tisbury is offering 25 per cent off original artworks starting on Valentine’s Day and continuing through March. For details, visit granarygallery.com or call 508-693-0455.

John Holladay offers a wealth of art for the connoisseur. His Web site (Johnholladayart.com) brims with vivid watercolors, iconic posters, inviting paintings, stately lighthouses, as well as comfortable scenes like the Flying Horses, Alley’s store and the Camp Ground. His acrylics are bright and vivid. Way Too Much Stuff explores a Menemsha fishing scene, overburdened with gear.

Featherstone Center for the Arts will open a retrospective of Mr. Holladay’s work on Sunday, Feb. 8.

Bank Art Exhibit

An exhibition of Lisa Vanderhoop’s photography and giclée prints opens today at the Chilmark Sovereign Bank and continues through February.

The wildlife and nature images were shot on the Vineyard, Africa, the Galapagos and Costa Rica. Ms. Vanderhoop’s humorous Vineyard Sea Dog valentine cards also will be for sale.
