With protective masks in short supply on Martha’s Vineyard, a new Island network has formed with the mission of providing masks for everyone who needs them.

With ridership cratering on the Vineyard route and financial losses looming, SSA general manager Robert Davis said the reduced ferry schedule will remain in effect through May 5.

Amid rising numbers of confirmed cases of Covid-19, Gov. Charlie Baker extended a statewide stay-at-home order to May 4 Tuesday, and a ninth confirmed case was reported on Martha’s Vineyard.

Martha’s Vineyard Community Services is receiving a $25,000 donation from Cape Cod 5, according to a bank announcement.

More than 100 Island contractors and tradesmen who have been affected by the construction moratorium joined a conference call Monday.

No new coronavirus cases were reported as of Tuesday, the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital said. In a morning briefing, hospital spokesman Katrina Delgadillo said the hosital had performed 101 tests to date. There are currently eight confirmed cases on the Island.
