With nine office-seekers and nine seats, the race for the MVC may have seemed unsuspenseful to those unfamiliar with the intricate makeup of the powerful regional planning agency.

Voters in all seven Dukes County towns threw their strong support to Vice President Joe Biden over President Donald Trump. Clarence (Trip) Barnes and Ben Robinson eclipsed Josh Goldstein in a tight three-way race for Tisbury's seats on the Martha’s Vineyard Commission.

Gazette reporters were on the scene at polling stations around the Island on election day, talking to voters, capturing the mood. Polls close at 8 p.m. in all six towns.
