Whether traveling aboard a wooden sloop, laden with climbing gear or carrying traditional aboriginal spears, films from around the world are about to arrive on the Vineyard. The 10th annual Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival officially begins on Thursday, Sept. 10.
This weekend the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society will host screenings of films by Jacques Perrin, the Oscar-winning producer, actor, director and member of France’s Legion of Honor. Mr. Perrin will travel from France to attend the festival.
The first annual Environmental Film Festival will be held at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center from May 20 through May 24.
A newly renovated Capawock theatre in Vineyard Haven is quickly taking shape, and on Monday afternoon, the front doors were wide open and the occasional visitor wandered in. An opening gala is set for May 29. It's the same story at the Strand in Oak Bluffs, with an opening planned for June 19.
Tis the season to show the 1946 classic holiday film It’s a Wonderful Life. This family-friendly film debuts at the film center on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in tribute to the late Jonathan Revere of West Tisbury.
