The British invade the Performing Arts Center at the regional high school as the Minnesingers present their English-inspired spring concert on Mother’s Day weekend.

On Saturday evening, the Minnesinger parent group hosted its first annual mid-winter ball and gala at the Harbor View Hotel. The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School Minnesingers and their director Janis Wightman wish to thank the parents and all the volunteers for their many hours of time and tireless efforts.

Time to break out of the winter doldrums and break into some fancy or not so fancy footwork. The Sultans of Swing provide tunes for the mid-winter ball and gala.

Last spring the Minnesingers high school chorus traveled to Croatia to perform. They have also been to Lithuania and all over Europe throughout the years. And each holiday season they travel, too, but a much shorter distance from the high school — they head to Edgartown to give their annual holiday concert.

When the Neighborhood Convention meets this month the Minnesingers will present a holiday program preview. The convention will meet at 11 a.m. on Dec. 3 at Trinity United Methodist Church at the Camp Ground in Oak Bluffs.

The Minnesingers have returned from their 10-day trip to Croatia with a new show for Vineyard audiences. On Saturday, May 4, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m. they will perform their spring show Roots, which celebrates the African-American contribution of composers and performers, at the performing arts center at the regional high school.
