My last family vacation to the Vineyard with my parents before I moved out on my own was complicated by the need to make a difficult decision.

2017

2014

Once located on Beach Street in Vineyard Haven where the Stop & Shop now stands, the Great House served for years as a tavern before being moved to its present location on West Chop.

2013

The West Chop home overlooking Vineyard Haven Harbor sold for for $7.2 million. The buyer is David Grain, a private equity manager and 1980 graduate of the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School.

1999

Students and faculty of the former summer School of Creative Arts on West Chop are having a reunion on the Vineyard, from August 20 to 22. Now in their 40s, 50s and 60s, participants will visit the school sites and reminisce about their summers spent at the school on the Island. They will also teach and participate in arts classes and perform for and with each other.

1966

The land and buildings of the School of Creative Arts on the West Chop Road in Vineyard Haven have been sold by Miss Kathleen Hinni to Mrs. Hazel F. Schwarts, Mr. and Mrs. James E. Angell and Mr. and Mrs. Kelvin Kennedy. All are owners of real estate either adjoining the school property or located nearby.

The sale was made by Cronig’s Real Estate. The property consists of seven acres of wooded land, with 600 feet of beach, which has been divided equally among the three purchases.
