A parade of classic cars wound through Edgartown Saturday morning to kick off the first annual Car-B-Q, a celebration of classic cars and good food. The event was sponsored by the Vineyard Gazette Media Group.

The day started out with 30 cars that gathered by Bend in the Road beach and traveled to the Harbor View Hotel for a car show and a barbecue. All proceeds from car registration fees went to the Tisbury Firefighters Association.

Those who entered cars in the competition also cast votes for their favorite car in the show.

The best in show award went to Andrew Aloisi for his 1956 Continental Mark II. Jim Healey took first place for his 1965 Volkswagen Bus, and James Walpole's 1958 Metropolitan Nash came in second. Marty Homlish and his 1960 Chevrolet Corvette came in third.

The organizers hope to make it an annual affair.
