An agreement has been signed by the Harbor View Hotel Corporation of Edgartown and the Treadway Inns Corporation under the terms of which the latter will take over the management of the former. The contract, which is renewable, is for five years.

The name of Treadway Inns needs little by way of introduction since it enjoys an excellent reputation in its field, owning or managing some sixteen well known hotels in New England, New York and Florida, besides managing restaurant facilities in a number of private clubs.

Among the hostelries operated are the Sturbridge Inn, Toy Town Tavern at Winchendon, Lord Jeffery at Amherst, the Williamstown Inn, and nearer home, to mention one other, the Coonamessett Inn in Falmouth which this year for the first time is remaining open all winter.

Favorably Impressed

Officials of the Treadway corporation in several visits to the Harbor View this past summer as guests, were said by directors to be favorably impressed with the Edgartown hotel and its operation. As a result of these visits and conversations an agreement was reached.

For the Harbor View directors it is said that board members feel that they and the stockholders are satisfied that they have fulfilled their primary purpose: rehabilitating for its traditional place in the town of one of its foremost and first class resort hotels.

This has entailed a program which has rejuvenated in a conservative manner the property at Starbuck’s Neck in its interior decoration and landscaping. In turning over the management to the Treadway corporation the board therefore feels it is offering to its guests an added dimension in furtherance of its faith in the town and Island and fulfillment of its original purpose.
