The African-American Heritage Trail will dedicate a site in honor of John Saunders, an African-American preacher reputed to have brought Methodism to the Island. Mr. Saunders is believed to have preached to the communities who lived in the Farm Neck area in the late 1700s. The plaque will be dedicated by Robert Tankard and by other community members who wish to speak. The dedication will be on Oct. 13 at 9.30 a.m. at the land bank property off Pulpit Rock Road, Waterview Farms, Oak Bluffs near the parking area. All are invited.
