The Community Baptist Church will have an important business meeting following the 9 a.m. service on Dec. 7. All members are urged to attend.

Condolences to the family and friends of Orlie Alwardt. Services were held on Wednesday at the Methodist Church in the Camp Ground. It was a wonderful tribute to Orlie who had spent his adult life working for the town of Oak Bluffs in the highway department and as an Oak Bluffs firefighter.

Joseph Bozyczko, his wife Vicky and their children Michael, Mikayla, and Matthew of Holliston enjoyed Thanksgiving at their Lighthouse Road home.

Dr. Thomas Green of Evergreen Way enjoyed the weekend at his home, returning to Rhode Island on Sunday.

Welcome to Pete and Sandy Gulbrandsen of Ocean City, N.J. They spent their first Thanksgiving weekend at their new home on Skye Lane. We look forward to their arrival on a full-time basis in the near future.

Ted Leslie and his wife Kristina returned this week after spending two weeks in Los Angeles with her daughters and sons in law Samantha and Clifford Everleigh, Jennifer and Doug Staples and their sons Maxum and Charlie.

Luther T. Madison and his wife Ann entertained family and friends with their annual open house for Thanksgiving.

Dan Maltais, his wife Cheryl and their daughter Samantha returned Tuesday after a relaxing week in Aruba.

Noah James Manning returned home on Sunday evening after spending a week with his grandparents Bill and Joan Kistner at their home in Pleasant Valley, N.Y. He also enjoyed Thanksgiving with his aunts, uncles and cousins. Noah enjoyed his week away with his parents Paul and Theresa and has returned home with a new green wagon from his Kistner grandparents.

Get well wishes to down-Island cousin Joan Manning Cobb, daughter of Kay Manning, who is a patient at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton where she is critically ill. Cards may be sent to her at the Caritas Medical Center c/o ICU, 235 North Pearl Street, Brockton, MA 02301.

James Shepherd returned to Alaska on Thursday after spending 10 days with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed the first birthday celebration of his daughter Billie Diamond Vanderhoop Shepherd. He returns in a few weeks for the Christmas holiday with his family.

Trudy Taylor, her daughter Kate, granddaughter Sally and her husband Dean Bragonier and one-month-old great-grandson Bodie, spent Thanksgiving in the Berkshires with her son James, his wife Kim and their twins Rufus and Henry. The family was grateful for the blessing offered by six-year-old Rufus just before Thanksgiving dinner. On Friday evening, James, Kate and Sally all performed together in Great Barrington. Now James is back on the road touring on the West Coast.

Naushon Vanderhoop returned to her home in Brooklyn this week after spending the holiday with her family.

Coco Adams again will hold monthly flea markets at the Chilmark Community Center, including a holiday flea market on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be furniture from Inspirations, books, Ethel Sherman’s jams and jellies, antiques, jewelry, Vineyard memorabilia, Bob Conway’s caned chairs, handknit items and refreshments.
